TIL a cheap light meter app on my phone actually matched my $200 Sekonic

I've been shooting film for like 8 years and always swore phone meters were jokes, especially after my buddy showed me one that was 3 stops off on his Pentax. But last week I forgot my real meter at home during a shoot downtown and had to use the Lightmate app on my iPhone out of desperation. I spot metered a brick wall in direct sun, then checked with my Sekonic when I got back to the truck, and both gave me f/11 at 1/250. Now I'm wondering if I wasted money on that expensive meter for years. Has anyone else had an app surprise them like that?
