The 'perfect exposure' obsession is making us miss the real fun

I read a comment earlier saying a blown out sky ruins a whole roll. I shot a whole trip around Seattle last spring with my old Canonet, every frame had some light leak or haze, and those are the photos people ask about most. Sure, I'd love a technically clean negative, but these happy accidents tell a story no meter could capture. Is anyone else secretly glad when a roll comes back a little messy? What's the point of perfect if it loses the character?
