Talking to a lab tech made me realize my scanner was the problem all along

I was at a camera store in Seattle last Tuesday complaining about these weird green streaks on every roll I develop. The guy behind the counter asked what scanner I used and I said the old one I got for $40. He just laughed and said my negatives were probably fine, the scanner was mangling the color. I went home, borrowed a friend's decent scanner, and sure enough the same rolls looked perfect. Has anyone else blamed their development process for months only to find out it was some cheap gear causing the headache?
