Stopped fighting the light leak and just leaned into it
My old Canon AE-1 has a foam seal that's pretty much gone on the back door, so every roll gets this orange streak on the left side. After 3 rolls of trying to tape it up and failing, I gave up and started shooting scenes where that streak adds something, like sunsets or street lamps at night. Has anyone else just let a defect become part of their style instead of fixing it?

betty, you saying it changed your view totally gets it. I had a beat up Minolta X-700 with a shutter that would drag on the slow speeds, giving me these weird double exposures on some shots. I tried to fix it for months, spent money on a repair guy who just made it worse. Eventually I started timing my shots so the drag would blur the edges of moving cars or people. It became my signature look for night street photos. Now I actually look for cameras that have that kind of "flaw" because it adds something you can't get from a perfect lens.
