Showerthought: covering your lens cap with gaffer tape actually stops those accidental shots

I kept getting blank frames from my Canon AE-1 because the cap would pop off in my bag. Tried a dollar store hair elastic but it snapped after three days, so I slapped a strip of gaffer tape on the hinge and it hasn't budged in six months. Anyone else got a weird quick fix that just works?

Gaffer tape on a lens cap is just lazy gear care, not a fix.

Heard a buddy grumble about this exact thing. He used a tiny piece of velcro on his cap hinge, worked like a charm until the glue gave up. @theaw65 probably thinks that's lazy too, but hey, whatever stops the blanks.
