Just realized my light leak problem was actually a darkroom mistake from 3 months ago

I've been blaming my beat up Canon AE-1 for weird foggy streaks on every roll since August. Last week I was cleaning my developing tank and noticed the lid seal was cracked. Swapped it out, ran a test roll of Tri-X, and the 'light leaks' vanished. So it was me messing up, not the camera. Has anyone else spent months chasing the wrong culprit on their film fails?

Did you check the developing tank seal real close when you first started noticing the streaks, or did you just assume it had to be the camera body? Sometimes it's so easy to blame the gear we love because we don't want to admit our own process might be off. What made you finally look at that tank instead of swapping lenses?

Exactly, it's human nature to suspect the fancy camera before the little plastic tank that costs twenty bucks.
