Just got back from Santa Monica and my whole roll came out blank

I drove all the way out to the Santa Monica pier last Saturday to shoot some dusk photos on my Pentax K1000, and every single frame on this roll of Portra 400 came back completely blank. Turns out the rewind knob was loose and the film never advanced properly the whole time. Has anyone else had a camera do that sneaky thing where it looks like it's working but totally isn't?

Oh, that's such a bummer. A friend of mine had this happen with an old Canonet, she spent a whole afternoon at the botanical gardens and got nothing but blank frames. She didn't realize the advance lever was sticking until she got the prints back. Hope you get another chance to shoot that pier.

The stuck advance lever is a classic trap with older cameras. You get so focused on composition and light that you forget to check the mechanical basics. Hope she can make it back to the pier, those second chances rarely line up the same way twice.
