Drove past a roadside stand in Truth or Consequences, NM and saw 40 rolls of expired film in a milk crate

Stopped for gas off I-25 last Saturday and this older guy was selling junk out of his truck bed. Buried under a tarp was a milk crate full of expired film, mostly Kodak Gold from 1998, marked a buck a roll. I bought 12 rolls thinking it was a steal, and every single one came back from the lab with color shifts so bad the sky looked mustard yellow. Half of them had these weird light streaks along the edges, which honestly kind of grew on me. Has anyone else bought cheap expired film in bulk and actually had a few rolls turn out okay, or is it always a gamble?
