Can we talk about how my entire roll of Kodak Gold came back with the same light leak pattern from a $20 camera I found at a thrift store in Portland last Saturday
I was so excited to shoot that old Pentax K1000 from the Goodwill bin in the Pearl District but every single frame has a weird orange smear in the top corner and now I'm wondering if it's the shutter curtain or just bad luck, anyone else dealt with a mystery leak like this?

Oh man I had the exact same thing happen with a thrifted Minolta and it turned out to be a pinhole in the shutter curtain, a little bit of electrical tape on the inside fixed it right up.

Oh wow, that's actually pretty clever. I read somewhere that a lot of old cameras get light leaks from the foam seals breaking down, not just the shutter curtains. I guess the electrical tape trick works for both though, since it blocks light pretty well. I mean, it's not the most permanent fix but for a thrifted find it totally makes sense. Idk, maybe I'll have to remember that if I ever run into it with my own cameras.

Portland thrift store cameras always come with free bonus light leaks, it's a feature.
