The $78 darkroom timer that turned out to be a glorified egg timer

I dropped real money on that fancy digital timer for developing prints, but it drifts like crazy past 90 seconds, so now I'm back to counting Mississippi's with my phone, has anyone else found that cheap mechanical timers hold up better than these new electronic ones?

Huh, so the timer’s only good for about 90 seconds before it starts lying to you? What does it do, gain a full minute or just get wonky and unpredictable?

Honestly my old one drifts way worse than that after a few minutes.
