Someone told me my negatives were too contrasty and I had been shooting Tri-X at box speed for 3 years without realizing
Turns out pulling it one stop and developing a minute less fixed my highlights blowing out, anyone else ever get handed a reality check about their film stock settings?

reality check" is RIGHT. I've been there with HP5, took me way too long to stop blaming the developer.

OH WOW, @ryan_kim63, I gotta DISAGREE with you here! I actually switched TO HP5 from Tri-X and never looked back. The grain structure works better for the look I'm going for, and I found the exposure latitude to be way more forgiving than people give it credit for. Maybe your developer was fresh or your agitation was off? I had a whole roll come out weird once and it turned out my thermometer was busted by two degrees. The film itself has never let me down when I actually had my process dialed in.
