Roll number 200 through my Pentax K1000, and the shutter finally gave up in the middle of a wedding shoot
I was at frame 17 of 36 when the mirror locked up in a dark church in Portland, and the bride's mom asked if I had a backup, which I didn't, so what do you all carry as a second body when one camera is all you trust?

The last time my K1000 acted up was at a friend's barn wedding, not the shutter but the light meter needle just started doing this weird dance mid ceremony. I had a beat up Olympus OM-1 in the trunk but it was loaded with black and white from a test roll, so I just told the couple we were going "artistic" and shot the whole reception on HP5. They actually framed one of those grainy, underexposed shots of the first dance and it's still on their wall, which tells you everything about how much gear actually matters at weddings. That said, I now keep a plastic point and shoot with a fresh roll of Portra in my jacket pocket at all times, not as a proper backup but as a panic button. It takes the pressure off the main body knowing I could always hand someone a disposable if the worst happens again. Backups are like umbrellas in Portland, everyone says they carry one until it actually rains.
