My darkroom timer got replaced by a music app from a friend

I was complaining to my buddy Dave about how my old Gra-Lab timer kept sticking during development, and he said why not just use a metronome app on my phone. I laughed at first, but then he showed me how he sets it to 60 BPM and counts each beat as a second, so he never has to look at a screen in the dark. Tried it last weekend with a batch of Tri-X and honestly it felt way more natural, plus I can set different rhythms for different steps like agitation patterns. I still use the real timer for long exposures, but for dev times under 10 minutes, the beat counting just keeps me in the zone without fiddling with knobs. One thing I learned is to put the phone face down so the light doesn't fog anything, and keep the volume low enough to hear but not blast. Anyone else ever switched to audio cues instead of visual timers in the darkroom?

My sense of rhythm is so bad I'd probably print a photo of a heart attack.
