After 6 months of fighting with a $40 bulk loader, I finally tried wetting the film before loading it into the cassette and it worked perfectly on the first try.

Anyone else deal with film jamming in those cheap plastic bulk loaders, or am I the only one dumb enough to not try this sooner?

Oh man, that's wild... I've had that same stupid problem with those $40 loaders where the film just refuses to catch on the spool. You must feel pretty relieved it finally worked, right? Did you just dip the whole roll in water or only the end part where it feeds through the slot? I'm wondering if there's a trick to it or if you're basically just hoping the moisture helps it grip without messing up the emulsion.

@alice991 I used to think wetting film was just asking for ruined negatives, but after four jammed rolls in a row I got desperate enough to try it. Just a damp paper towel on the leader before feeding it into the slot did the trick, no issues with the emulsion as long as you don't soak it. Honestly feels like one of those things you gotta see work before you believe it.
