Warning: The best endings are the ones that make you wait
I rewatched 'Cast Away' recently, and it struck me how the movie spends so much time on the island but barely any on what happens after. What if, instead of cutting to years later, we saw Chuck Nolan slowly getting used to life again? An alternate ending could show him visiting the island, finding closure there. It would make the wait more meaningful. I see this in books too, where the author rushes the last chapter. But when a story takes its time to end, it feels more real. My book club talked about 'The Road' and how its ending lingers. That's what I want more of. Endings that don't shy away from the long, hard wait.

Funny how we're trained for quick fixes in stories and real life. That slow checkout line feels endless because we expect instant service now. Maybe the best stories remind us that some things, like healing, just can't be rushed.

Chuck Nolan's island time was so long I started ROOTING for the volleyball. Showing him go back for closure would just be cruel, like the movie forgot to end. Maybe the best endings make you wait, but my patience has its LIMITS.

Isn't it weird how we can wait forever for a movie to end but get antsy in a slow checkout line? (I mean, life's full of those patience tests, right?)
