Warning about rewatching old childhood movies as an adult
I saw Up again last weekend after not watching it for like 15 years and the whole opening montage hit way different than when I was a kid. I went from thinking it was just a sweet sad part to realizing it's basically a whole movie about grief and missed chances packed into 10 minutes. Has anyone else had a movie flip on them like that when you got older?

Idk maybe it's just me but something nobody talks about is how movies like Up actually teach kids to handle grief way before they even know what grief is. Like your brain stores that emotional template and then when you're older and actually lose someone, the movie suddenly makes sense in a whole new way. Almost like your childhood self was getting a sneak peek at adult emotions you couldn't process yet. I swear half the Disney movies have this hidden layer for parents that kids just completely miss.

Cried like a baby watching Up in theaters as a grown man. My wife still brings it up. Guess that emotional template didn't work on me, just made me a mess in public.
