Unpopular opinion: the 10th rewatch of a movie is when you finally see what the director actually cut
I started keeping a note on my phone for plotholes, and after my 10th time through The Shining I hit 14 things that only make sense if you assume a totally different third act. Like the guy in the bear suit, that whole scene plays like a leftover from a version where Jack was already gone before they got to the hotel, not after. So now I mess around with fan edits in my head where the family just leaves in the first 20 minutes and the movie becomes a quiet drama about a marriage falling apart. The Overlook never even gets to do anything. Has anyone else built a fake ending around a scene that felt like a leftover from a cut version?
