TIL swapping the last chapter of a mystery novel can fix a weak ending
I was reading this whodunit where the reveal felt too obvious by page 200. So I tried editing the last 3 pages to have a different character be the killer, one who had a small motive mentioned earlier. It changed the whole feel of the book and made the clues make more sense. Has anyone else tried rewriting a book's ending to improve it?

Page 47 had a mention of the neighbor's dog acting weird around the groundskeeper, so I swapped the killer to him in an Agatha Christie novel last week. My wife looked at me like I was nuts when she caught me cutting pages out of a $25 hardcover with scissors. Honestly though, the new ending made more sense than the original, so maybe I'm the real detective here.

Did you at least tape a fake dog bark in there for effect?
