Saw a guy in Seattle redo his ending to 'No Country for Old Men' and it got me thinking...

Someone online edited the final scene so Moss actually shoots Chigurh in the hotel room, and a bunch of people say that ruins the whole point about fate... but honestly, I kinda like the idea of him fighting back. Which side do you lean on, keeping the original bleak ending or giving him a win?

Watched a buddy of mine try to defend the original ending at a bar once. Got all worked up about how it's about random fate and how Moss fighting back cheapens the film's philosophy. Two hours later he tripped on a curb walking home and broke his ankle. Sometimes the universe just throws you a curveball no matter how much you argue about narrative structure.

And that's exactly why I stopped arguing about movie endings in public (not that I ever really started, but still). I mean, I once tripped over my own foot trying to make a point about how Alien is a haunted house movie in space. Landed right on my face in front of a group of strangers. The universe has a way of humbling you real fast, kind of like how Moss never saw that hammer coming. Now I just nod and say "yeah, interesting take" and hope I don't eat pavement later.
