Overheard two guys arguing about how Titanic should've ended with Jack on the door

I was at a coffee shop in Portland last week and these two dudes were going at it for like 20 minutes about whether Jack could have fit on that floating door. One guy insisted that if Rose just scooted over a little, they both would have survived. The other guy kept saying the door would capsize. I wanted to chime in that maybe the real problem was nobody trying to float on their backs with the life jacket, but I kept my mouth shut. Has anyone else run into random strangers debating movie logic in public?

Grab a pool float and try it yourself, you'll see the physics don't lie.

I was at a bar a few years back and this same argument broke out between two guys who were clearly too drunk to be debating physics. I just told them flat out that the real issue was the door wasn't big enough for two people to stay dry and stable. Me and my buddy actually tried a similar setup with a big piece of styrofoam in a pool once and yeah, it tipped right over when we both tried to get on. So I'm with the guy saying it would capsize. Also nobody ever talks about how Jack probably got hypothermia from being in the water too long anyway, not from not having enough door space.
