My buddy and I argued for an hour about the ending of 'The Dark Knight'

We were driving back from a job in Tacoma, and he said the movie should have ended with Batman taking the blame but then Harvey Dent's body being found. I argued it would have been stronger if Gordon's son found the coin, showing the truth would come out someday. It made me realize how much that final choice shapes the whole story. What's an alternate ending you've thought about for a superhero movie that changes the message?

Read a fan theory once about if Spider-Man 2 ended with Doc Ock living. Like, he gets the redemption but has to face what he did. Changes the whole thing from a clean sacrifice to a guy living with his mistakes. Makes it less about a hero's win and more about real consequences. Your Dark Knight talk made me remember that. The best endings sit with you because they feel true, not just neat.

Wait, your buddy wanted Harvey's body found right away? That misses the whole point. @saraht77 is right about endings needing to feel true, and a quick discovery would have made Batman's sacrifice cheap. The coin in the kid's hand is what makes it hurt so good.
