Just finished watching Inception for the 5th time and I'm still split on the ending
Some say Cobb's totem keeps spinning so he's still dreaming, but others argue he stopped caring about the totem because he finally had his kids. Which side do you lean toward and why? Do you think Nolan intended a clear answer or leaving it open was the whole point?

Same here. Seeing Nolan sidestep the question made me stop caring about the answer too.

A friend of mine was big on the spinning totem argument until something happened to him. He was at a film festival where Nolan did a Q&A, and someone asked directly if Cobb was dreaming at the end. Nolan just smiled and said "that's not really the point" and moved on. My friend said he realized then that the whole debate was kind of missing the forest for the trees. Nolan left it open because the whole movie is about whether Cobb could finally let go and accept his reality, whatever that reality was.
