I wasted $15 on a movie with a terrible alternate ending

I paid for the 4K release of The Mist just to see the supposed better ending and it felt completely tacked on. The original ending is way more impactful and leaves you thinking for days.

Agree completely, the original ending of The Mist is a gut punch and the new one feels like a cheap cop-out (sorry, not sorry). I watched both back to back and the black and white version just lands so much harder. That final shot with the religious lady is burned into my brain forever. The alternate one tries to be hopeful but it just ruins the whole point of the story. You paid $15 for a lesson in why directors sometimes need to leave things alone.

Ngl, that $15 lesson hits hard - some endings are sacred and messing with them just feels wrong. Honestly, the fact that you watched both back to back shows you really wanted to give it a fair shot too.
