I still think about how the original ending of The Dark Knight Rises would have felt WAY different.

Back when I saw it in theaters I was kinda let down by the reveal, but now after rewatching it three times this month I wonder if Nolan made the right call cutting that alternate finale where Gordon finds the bat signal fixed, what do you all think would have changed the trilogy's legacy?

Cutting it was the right call. That fakeout ending would have felt like a cheat.

Wait did your friend see the original ending or just hear about it? My buddy binged the show last week and told me he actually paused it at that fakeout moment and was ready to throw his remote at the TV.
