Changed my mind about the Titanic ending after watching a documentary last Tuesday
I used to think Rose should have scooted over on that door so Jack could survive too. But a historian on PBS showed me the water was 28 degrees and even a few extra inches of wood wouldn't have saved him from hypothermia. I was sitting on my couch in Buffalo eating popcorn when it clicked - the real tragedy is that she let go of his hand too soon. Now I think the ending is pretty perfect as is, even if it still makes me cry. Has anyone else flipped their opinion on a famous movie ending after learning some facts?

Cracked up at the part where you said you were eating popcorn in Buffalo. That's such a vivid image. I used to argue that Rose could have just shared the door, but then I read somewhere that the wood was actually balsa wood from the ship's interior and would have sunk with two people on it. Still makes me sob like a baby every time though, even knowing the facts.

The balsa wood theory actually makes it hit even harder somehow.
