Arrival's final choice, was it brave or just stubborn?

So I rewatched Arrival last week and the ending where Louise chooses to have Hannah anyway, knowing the pain, just sits weird with me. One side says that's the whole point, love isn't about avoiding loss, it's about embracing the time you get. But the other side argues the movie could've ended with her using her foresight to change the future, maybe averting the global conflict entirely, and that would've been a stronger payoff. I mean, if you can see your whole life, wouldn't you at least try to tweak one or two bad days? Has anyone else debated this with themselves for like an hour after the credits rolled, or is it just me? What alternate ending would you pitch for that film?

Wait, she could see her whole life and still picked that?
