Why does nobody talk about how a 20 year vet in Dayton saved me from drilling every header I touch
I used to just drill straight through the top plate on every door contact install. A guy named Ray with 20 years in the trade watched me do it at a job in Dayton and asked why I was making future service guys hate me. He said he'd spent 6 hours fishing a wire in a finished house because someone like me buried the hole behind crown molding. Now I mark and drill at an angle so the wire path stays open from below, and yeah, it takes me about 10 extra seconds per door. Anybody else have a habit you picked up from someone older that you still use?
