Unpopular opinion: the 200th panel install is when I finally stopped guessing at resistor values
I was cleaning out the van on a slow Tuesday and counted 200 leftover 2.2k end-of-line resistors in my parts bin, one for every panel I'd wired since I started. Around number 150 I started writing the zone map on the inside of the can door with a paint pen, and my callback rate on "zone not ready" calls dropped from about 1 in 12 to almost none. Turns out most of my trouble calls were me rushing the EOL placement and trusting the keypad instead of testing with a meter at the contact. Now I meter every zone before I close up, even on a 4 zone job in a little ranch house. Curious if you guys keep a running count of anything on your installs, or is that just me being weird about the parts bin?
Kept a tally of drywall anchors for a while, the plastic ones that come with TV mounts. Got up past 300 before I tossed the box. What stuck with me was not the count, it was that I switched brands around 200 and stopped stripping them out. Cheaper anchors, go figure. Same deal as your resistors, the number is not really the point. It just shows you when the thing you were doing finally clicked. I still test every outlet before I put the plate back on, even if it is one outlet behind a couch nobody will ever move.
