Thought glass break detectors were snake oil until a job in Tulsa changed my mind
A client in Tulsa asked me to add glass break detectors to their storefront after a break-in, and I tried to talk them out of it because I figured motion sensors already had it covered. They pushed back and said their insurance guy told them the last smash happened without a single door opening, so we installed 4 of them along the front windows. Two months later someone popped a window with a spark plug and the alarm tripped before they even got a leg inside. I've been putting them on storefronts ever since, but I still wonder if I got lucky with placement on that one. Any of you running into false trips on glass breaks near HVAC vents?
I was right there with you thinking they were a waste of money until a buddy showed me a video of a guy popping a window with a center punch and never setting off the motion. Total game changer for me lol. I haven't had a ton of false trips yet but I did have to move one away from a vent after it kept going off on heat cycles.
