Surprised that 2 out of 3 residential systems I service still use phone line dialers
I was going through my service logs from the last quarter here in Austin, and I couldn't believe how many customers are still running old POTS dialers. Out of 45 service calls, 30 of them had systems that rely on a landline for alarm signals. The stat came from my own records when I was trying to figure out how many cellular communicators I've upgraded this year. It's wild because landline reliability is garbage now, especially during storms. Are you guys seeing this many legacy dialers on your routes too?

You ever try explaining to a retiree that their 30 year old alarm panel needs a cellular upgrade and they look at you like you're trying to sell them a timeshare? I've got one customer who swears the landline works fine except it goes dead every time a squirrel farts on a transformer nearby. The copper is just rotting out here, I've had to splice lines myself just to get a signal through. A simple $20 cellular communicator would solve half the false alarm fines people are racking up.

Lol tell me about it. I had one old timer swear his system was fine until a raccoon chewed through the drop wire and his alarm just sat there screaming at nobody for three hours.
