Rant: dropped $310 on a 'smart' zone kit that fought my old panel for 3 weeks
Bought a wireless zone expander for $310 back in March for a 1990s panel in a house off Fremont, and the stupid thing kept dropping zones every time the AC kicked on. Spent 3 weekends rewiring grounds and swapping batteries before I ripped it out and hardwired the doors the old way for $40 in wire. Anyone else get burned by retrofit gear that plays nice on paper but not in a real house?
