Old panel swap in Boston turned into a 3 day mess

The panel was 20 years old and the wiring was all ziptied tight. Customer said it worked fine for a decade, but after moving sensors around in their remodel the whole thing started false alarming. Took 3 days to chase ground faults on two zones that were never labeled right from the start. Has anyone else dealt with a remodel that scrambled an old hardwired system this bad?
