Noticed a big shift in how people want their keypads placed

Three years ago, everyone wanted them right by the front door. Last month in a Portland suburb, I had three jobs in a row where they asked for it in the kitchen near the coffee maker. It's a small thing, but it changes the whole wire run. Anyone else seeing more requests like that?

Seems like a weird thing to get hung up on. Just run the wire where they want it, it's their house.

But it's my work and my name on it.

Three years ago I had a client who literally stood over my shoulder while I painted their kitchen cabinets and kept telling me the brush strokes were "too visible." I'm a professional with 15 years experience but they wanted that cheap roller look instead of a smooth finish. It is demoralizing to have your name attached to something that makes you cringe every time you see it. People don't realize that our reputation is walking around in the work we leave behind.
