Neighbor in Omaha made me rethink how I wire motion detectors
Was chatting with a retired electrician named Gary last weekend while I was installing a system on his street, and he pointed out I was running my wires too close to the AC lines. He said 'you're asking for false alarms every time that compressor kicks on', and honestly I'd never even thought about EMI messing with my zones. Has anyone else had a neighbor or random person drop some knowledge that changed how you do a basic install?

Neighbor watched me wire a light fixture. Told me I'd burn my house down. He was right.

Wire it up wrong and sparks fly pretty quick. Had this happen to me with a ceiling fan years ago. Sketchy wiring job can fry the whole room, no joke. @dakota479 learned that lesson the hard way like I did.
