My turnaround on using cellular backups for alarms
I was skeptical, but a storm proved me wrong.

Wait, you needed a whole storm to test your alarm backup? That's a rough way to find out.

That's true about the storm test being rough. It got me thinking how most people set up their backup once and then forget it for years. Batteries die or cellular contracts expire without anyone noticing. The real problem is we treat these systems like they're set and forget, but they need checkups like everything else.

Honestly, everyone worries about storms, but what about a simple car crash into a power pole? Your alarm goes silent without that cell backup. My neighbor lost power for hours after a fender bender down the street. Their whole system was dead until the grid came back. Why do we only think about the big disasters?
