My own house reno messed up the perimeter beams
I was putting up new shelves in the living room and didn't realize how close they were to the infrared beams. Now the alarm keeps tripping every time someone walks by. Had to remount three sensors higher up on the walls. Took me all afternoon to recalibrate the system.

My old DSC alarm has those beams set a full foot below the ceiling for a reason. I actually map out where everything goes on the wall before I even drill a pilot hole for a project like shelves. You might have been moving a bit too fast on the install. What made you pick that spot for the shelves in the first place?

Honestly I learned the hard way too. Tried to put up a coat rack and hit a wire right behind the drywall. Now I use a cheap stud finder that also checks for wires and pipes. I mark everything with painter's tape first, even the empty spots. Takes an extra ten minutes but saves a huge headache.

Mapping everything first sounds good in theory, but sometimes you just have to eyeball it and adjust later.
