DSC panel battery backup died, had to pick between a drill and a brick
Went to swap a dead DSC PC1864 panel battery in a crawl space outside Dallas and the mounting screws were stripped worse than anything I've seen. Problem was I only had my drill and a brick I found under the house to choose from for getting the cover off. I grabbed the brick, gave it two smacks near the top hinge, and the whole plastic shell cracked clean off like a walnut. Panel's still working a month later, but has anyone else had to resort to percussive maintenance on these older DSC boxes? How do you get into them without wrecking the mount?
