Called BS on wireless sensors until a bank retrofit changed my mind

I used to swear by hardwired everything. Thought wireless was for homeowners who didn't want to drill. Then last spring I had to wire up a 1980s bank building with concrete walls 18 inches thick. Drilling for one sensor took me 45 minutes with a hammer drill. Switched to wireless on the rest of the job. Saved something like 12 hours total and the signal held perfect through those walls. I still prefer hardwire for new builds but for retrofits like that? Wireless is legit. Anyone else come around on something you wrote off for years?

Same lesson applies to smart home stuff, sometimes the easy path wins.

Gotta agree with you here. I was the same way about wireless, thought it was lazy work. Then I hit a brick wall, literally, and ate my words. @thomas_wright41 nailed it, sometimes the easy option is just smart. The time I saved on that bank job paid for the tech three times over. I still love my hardwire tools but I'm not judging anyone anymore.
