Vent: Hit 10,000 flight hours this week and nobody cared but me
Logged my 10,000th hour on a Cessna 172 overhaul job Wednesday. That's like 14 months straight in the air on the ground fixing these things. But when I mentioned it to the crew at the hangar, everyone just shrugged and went back to their coffee. Kinda stings when you realize nobody outside this trade gets what that number actually means. How many hours you guys got logged before you stopped counting?

Read somewhere 10k hours is the point where most mechanics start dreaming about the rivets.

@wyatt513 oh man that rivet thing is so true lol. for me it was around 8k hours when i started noticing weird stuff like the way a specific torque wrench feels right before it clicks. i started keeping a little notebook of all the little tells on different machines, just little things like "this bearing sounds off at 3k rpm" that nobody ever taught me. honestly once you hit that point where your hands just know before your brain catches up, that's when the real learning starts happening. it's like your subconscious starts doing pattern matching while you sleep or something.
