Thinking back to that big snowstorm at O'Hare in 2011

We had a dozen planes stuck on the tarmac overnight, and the de-icing fluid just wasn't cutting it. I remember my hands were numb trying to get a seal on a fuel cap with ice packed in the threads. After that, our hangar started keeping heated blankets and specific low-temp lubes on hand for winter ops. It changed our whole cold weather checklist. Now I see new guys with heated gloves and I think, man, we just toughed it out back then. What's the biggest change you've seen in how your shop handles winter work?

The real change is how we now plan for crew rest, not just the tools.

Notice this shift from stuff to people everywhere, like in schools and hospitals too.

Remember we also started using those heated blankets for parts, not just people.
