PSA: I've seen three different guys at my hangar in Phoenix skip the final torque check on CRJ-700 flap actuators after a rig, and that's a hard no.

Seriously, that's how you get a flap asymmetry on takeoff. Seen the paperwork from that, and it's not pretty.

I get what you're saying but honestly I think the paperwork culture has gone too far. I've been flying for 25 years and I've seen pilots so buried in checklists and double-checking that they lose sight of the actual airplane. That "flap asymmetry" incident Jennifer mentions probably happened because someone was staring at a clipboard instead of feeling what the plane was doing through the controls. Sometimes you just have to trust your hands and your gut more than a piece of paper that a desk jockey wrote up.
