Paper logs to tablet, my old sign-off binder feels ancient now
Back in 2006 at the Delta base in Atlanta, I carried a three ring binder with every AMM revision flagged by hand, and a misread page meant walking back to the hangar office to check the microfiche. Now I just pull up the same diagram on a 10 inch iPad in the wheel well, zoom in with two fingers, and the torque values are right there updated live. Anybody else still keep a backup paper copy in their toolbox, or am I the only one who trusts a dead tree over a lithium battery when the Wi-Fi drops mid inspection?
Dead tree every time. Had a guy last month lose his whole task card list when the shop iPad went black mid wing panel, no charger in sight and the backup battery pack was already dead. He stood there like a statue while I pulled my folded printout from my back pocket. The screen is great until it isn't, and lithium does not care that you are elbow deep in a fuel tank. Keep the binder or at least a stapled copy in the box.
