Just had a chat with a retired A&P who worked on DC-3s...

He said, 'We fixed things with a hammer and a prayer, but you folks have to fix them with a laptop and a lawyer.' Makes you think about how much the job's changed. What's the biggest shift you've seen in your time on the line?

My uncle still tells stories about patching up Cessnas with duct tape.

That sounds like a serious FAA violation. Duct tape is for ground equipment, not flight surfaces. I hope those were just hangar tales.
