Found out the FAA only requires 16 hours of training to get your A&P, and I have been spreading bad info for 7 years
Was reading through the regs last Tuesday while waiting on a parts delivery in Amarillo and hit Part 147. Turns out the minimum curriculum is 1,900 hours for a Part 147 school, but the practical experience route under Part 65 only needs 18 months for both ratings, or 30 months combined. I always thought the school route was the only legit path because that was how my shop's old lead got in back in 2006. Talked to a kid at the FBO who did the experience route and he passed his airframe oral first try. Now I feel bad for telling two guys over the years that they had to go to a school or give up on it. Anyone here actually go the 18 month experience route and was it a nightmare to document?
