Finally got that stubborn APU bleed valve to play nice
Was working a late shift at a small regional base outside Denver last night, and the bleed valve on a CRJ200 just would not cycle open no matter what I tried. Took me 3 tries with a different manual override tool and a lot of swearing, but it finally kicked in and the pressure held for both tests.

Wait, wait. You used a rubber mallet on a CRJ700 bleed valve? Dude, that’s crazy. I wouldn't dare tap one of those with anything harder than my fist. Those older housings are super brittle, especially in the cold. I’ve seen one crack from a light bump with a metal tool before. Glad it worked for you though, that’s some real luck right there.

Had the same issue on a CRJ700 last winter. Ended up tapping the valve body lightly with a rubber mallet while cycling the manual override, and it finally broke free. Does yours have the newer seal kit or the old one?
