TIL the air fryer makes better grilled cheese than a pan ever did

Last Wednesday I was out of butter and too lazy to wash a skillet. So I just threw two slices of bread with cheddar in the air fryer at 370 for 6 minutes. Came out perfectly crispy on the outside and melted all the way through. My usual pan method always burns one side or leaves the middle cold. Anyone else ditch the stovetop for certain sandwiches?

Oh man, you are so onto something here. The air fryer is a total game changer for grilled cheese because it gets that even heat all around, no flipping or babysitting needed. I've been doing mine with a little sprinkle of garlic powder on the butter and it comes out tasting like a diner grilled cheese but way less greasy. The trick I found is to flip it halfway through even though it seems like you don't need to, just to make sure the top bread doesn't get too dark before the cheese is melted. Also, I started using mayo instead of butter on the outside and it gives this crazy good crunch that butter just can't match. Once you go air fryer for these kind of sandwiches, it's almost impossible to go back to standing over a hot stovetop.

That garlic powder tip is solid, I tried it last night and it really adds something without overpowering the cheese. The mayo trick works great too, I use it every time now because it browns way more even than butter does. Once I figured out the flip halfway method, my air fryer grilled cheeses came out perfect every single time.
