Shoutout to parchment paper liners for keeping my basket clean

I was deciding between reusable silicone mats and disposable parchment liners for my air fryer, and after 3 uses the silicone mats left a weird smell on my chicken wings. The parchment liners from the dollar store work great and cleanup takes 10 seconds instead of scrubbing for 5 minutes. Has anyone else had that weird smell issue with silicone mats in their air fryer?

Funny how that works. Seems like every "clever new solution" ends up having some hidden catch that the old school cheap option didn't. Silicone stuff in general has been a mixed bag for me, always picking up odors from whatever was cooked last. Dollar store parchment paper has been my go to for years now, simple and it just works without any fuss.

Tbh I feel personally attacked by the silicone odor thing because I bought a whole set of those fancy baking mats and now my cookies taste faintly of the garlic bread I made last Tuesday. Dollar store parchment paper never betrayed me like that, simple and loyal. Guess I'll stick with the cheap stuff and save my money for therapy over my failed "clever solution" choices.
