My sister told me parchment paper is a scam in the air fryer

She said it blocks airflow and makes everything soggy. But I use it every time and my fries come out crispy. Who is right here?

My buddy Rick tried using parchment paper in his air fryer once. He cut a big sheet and just laid it right over the basket bottom, blocking all the little holes. Everything came out steamed and sad. He blamed the paper but really he just used it wrong.

Wait, are you saying I've been blaming parchment paper for no reason this whole time? I honestly thought it was the paper's fault when my chicken wings came out soggy, but now I'm wondering if I was blocking the air flow too. I used to cut a big sheet and just drop it in there, never even thought about the holes getting covered. That explains a lot, actually. I've been getting okay results but never that crispy texture everyone brags about. Maybe I need to poke some holes in it or cut it smaller so the air can still move around. Thanks for setting me straight on this, I'll have to try it the right way next time.
