Heard a food blogger say air fryers are just tiny convection ovens and it got me thinking
I was listening to a cooking podcast while cleaning the kitchen last weekend. The guest was a food blogger who kept saying an air fryer is basically a small convection oven with a fan. She said there's nothing magic about it, just hot air moving fast. But after making chicken thighs in my air fryer last night, I have to say the texture came out way better than my regular oven ever does. Is it really just the smaller space that makes the difference, or is there something else going on? Has anyone else noticed a big gap between what the experts say and what your own kitchen tells you?

Gotta admit I was one of those people who rolled my eyes at air fryers until I burned toast so bad in my regular oven it set off the smoke detector and the cat gave me this look. But now I use mine more than my actual stove and feel ridiculous every time I pull out perfectly crispy fries from a glorified toaster oven. The smaller space just gets hotter faster maybe, but I'm not gonna argue with results when my cooking failures are usually my own fault anyway.

Yeah the "glorified toaster oven" part got me too but now I'm a believer after my own kitchen disasters.
