Don't ignore the smoke point on avocado oil, I learned the hard way

I was making chicken wings in my air fryer last Tuesday around 7pm and thought I'd get fancy with some avocado oil spray. Set the temp to 400 degrees like I always do and walked away for maybe 4 minutes. Came back to a kitchen full of thick gray smoke and the smoke alarm going off in my apartment complex in Austin. Turns out avocado oil has a smoke point around 420 but some cheaper brands start burning lower than that. I had to open all the windows for an hour and the whole place smelled like burned popcorn and regret. Has anyone else had a oil mishap that set off alarms? What spray oils actually hold up at high heat?

Ngl, I just use regular olive oil spray. Never had issues. Works fine for wings, trust me.

Yeah that "burned popcorn and regret" line hits hard, I messed up a batch of wings the same way. I switched to grapeseed oil spray for high heat, works fine at 400 and doesn't smoke up the place.
